Remembering Bryan Randall: A Tribute to Sandra Bullock's Beloved Partner and His Courageous 3-Year Journey with ALS

Bryan Randall, Sandra Bullock's longtime partner, passed away on Saturday, as announced by his family in a statement.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE on Monday, Bryan Randall's family disclosed that he passed away during the weekend. He was 57 years old. The family expressed their profound sadness as they shared the news, revealing that Bryan had peacefully succumbed to ALS after battling the disease for three years. The family respected Bryan's decision to keep his struggle with ALS private, and they honored his wishes by maintaining his privacy.

The family expressed deep gratitude to the dedicated medical professionals who supported them throughout Bryan's illness journey. They particularly acknowledged the tireless efforts of doctors who navigated the complexities of ALS and the remarkable nurses who became like family, selflessly prioritizing Bryan's care over their own personal lives.

During this challenging time, the family requested privacy to mourn Bryan's loss and to come to terms with the difficult reality of bidding farewell to him. The statement was signed as "His Loving Family."

Sandra Bullock, aged 59, first crossed paths with Bryan Randall, a former model turned photographer, when he captured moments from her son Louis's birthday celebration in January 2015. As the year progressed, they began to make their relationship more public, even attending Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding together.

Bullock, a mother to Louis (13) and daughter Laila (10), broached the subject of marriage during a December 2021 appearance on Red Table Talk. She eloquently expressed her deep connection with Bryan, stating, "I've found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children—three children, including [Randall's] older daughter. It's the most wonderful thing." She emphasized that formal paperwork wasn't necessary for her to be a devoted partner and mother, highlighting her commitment to being present during life's challenges.

On the same episode of Red Table Talk, Bullock praised Bryan Randall as a positive influence on her children, hailing him as an example she would want her kids to follow. Despite their differing viewpoints as a Christian and non-Christian, she admired his ability to stand as a role model even in moments of disagreement. She acknowledged the importance of listening and finding common ground, while admitting her inclination to manage everything herself.

In memory of Bryan Randall, his family kindly requested that donations be directed to the ALS Association and the Massachusetts General Hospital, in lieu of sending flowers.
